In its decision, Judge Alfredo Pérez is moving the deadline for submitting the information to February 18. According to the previous decision, they should have submitted it by January 21 at the latest.
60 billion in debts
The reason for the extended deadline is that Northvolt is currently busy negotiating with potential financiers and selling off non-core business activities.
According to the newspaper Dagens industri, Northvolt has also been granted permission in the court ruling to use pledged raw materials in its production.
Northvolt applied for bankruptcy protection in a Texas court in November, after having failed to secure new financing since the summer of 2024. When the application for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 11 of the US bankruptcy law was made, Northvolt's debt mountain amounted to approximately 60 billion kronor.
Earlier in the week, SVT Västerbotten reported that the Enforcement Authority has collected 13 million kronor from Northvolt despite the bankruptcy protection in the USA. The bankruptcy protection is intended to prevent creditors from collecting payments from the financially strained battery manufacturer.
Nearly 6,000 employees
"The assets are part of the Chapter 11 process in the USA, but the authority seems to have a different view. We are monitoring the situation," writes Northvolt's press chief Erik Zsiga in a comment to TT about the Enforcement Authority's actions.
Northvolt aims to complete the reconstruction in the USA during the first quarter of 2025.
The majority of Northvolt's nearly 6,000 employees work in Skellefteå, Västerås, and Stockholm. However, the company also has hundreds of employees in Poland, Canada, and Germany.
