None of the five new suspects are detained.
They are suspected of having participated in the sequence of events surrounding the murder, but they are not suspected of having participated in the murder itself, says prosecutor Pernilla Nilsson to TT.
There is nothing in the investigation that suggests they were at the crime scene, she continues.
She does not want to say whether it concerns girls or boys, but that it is four youths under 15 years old and one who is over 15 years old. They come from different parts of Sweden.
The 14-year-old girl was found dead in an industrial area in Landskrona on the night of Tuesday, July 23. The police and prosecutor now believe they have a fairly good picture of what happened at the crime scene, the prosecutor explains.
But further investigation remains, partly in that respect, but also investigation into the planning, motive, and the perpetrators' intent, she says.
Previously, a 15-year-old girl was suspected of murder. Another girl in high school age is suspected of involvement in the murder. She is under 15 years old and has been handed over to social authorities.
A third person who is an adult has been suspected of gross obstruction of justice. A total of eight people are thus suspected in some way in the investigation.
The prosecutor does not want to tell what the new suspects are suspected of having done more specifically.
We have been working on this case for a while now, and it is a large investigative effort. There are several different investigative tasks that have led to this assessment, says Pernilla Nilsson.
