Last year, actress Rachel Zegler was criticized for statements about the 1937 film "Snow White", where she likened the prince in the fairy tale to a stalker. Racist comments also poured in regarding Zegler's ethnicity.
Since the trailer was presented, it has reached an audience of nearly seven million viewers on YouTube in just seven days – and has been downvoted by a majority. At the time of writing, the trailer has around 740,000 negative "thumbs down" ratings compared to approximately 70,000 likes.
Users in the comments are criticizing the decision to make an untitled film with computer-animated dwarves instead of real actors, as well as Zegler's hairstyle in the film resembling Lord Farquaad in the animated film "Shrek".
"Snow White" is expected to premiere in the spring.
