The Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is barely leading the Democrat Kamala Harris, according to an opinion poll by The New York Times and Siena College.
48 percent say they would vote for Trump if the election were held today, compared to 47 percent for Harris.
In the crucial so-called swing states, it's virtually a dead heat. In Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona, the candidates are tied, while Harris has a small advantage in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania.
But with only just over eight weeks left until the presidential election on November 5, both Trump and Harris have pressure on them to deliver a strong performance in the ABC News debate in Philadelphia on Tuesday.
