The EU Commission is allocating an additional 140 million euros – approximately 1.6 billion Swedish kronor – in humanitarian aid to Ukraine.

The funds are intended for acute emergency assistance in the form of food, water, shelter, and healthcare. At the same time, approximately 92 million Swedish kronor are also being allocated to Moldova, to help Ukrainian refugees in the country.

The announcement is being made as the EU's new Commissioner for Aid, Hadja Lahbib, visits Ukraine.
