It will certainly happen, but we don't have any details, says Jimmie Adamsson at the Navy's press department.
The information about two Nato ships comes from Finland's Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen.
Nato is sending two ships to the area and we are increasing our presence in the area in other ways as well. It is not possible to guard all infrastructure, but we are taking several measures and Nato's presence has a calming effect, says Valtonen, according to the Finnish public service company Yle.
As for the Swedish Navy, planning for participation in the operation is still ongoing, according to Jimmie Adamsson.
The Defence Forces are looking at this broadly, it's not just about ship participation, but also about other things, he says.
It is currently unclear what type of ships it might involve. Valtonen's message comes after several suspected sabotage of underwater cables in the Baltic Sea.
In late December, the oil tanker Eagle S is suspected to have dragged its anchor for tens of kilometers on the seabed, thereby damaging several important underwater cables between Finland and Estonia.
Earlier in the week, Swedish and Finnish media reported that Nato is planning a larger naval operation in the Baltic Sea to protect cables and underwater cables.
Neither Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (The Moderate Party) nor Defence Minister Pål Jonson (The Moderate Party) have so far wanted to comment on Sweden's participation.
