Östersund Municipality will report the false rumors that have been spread about an outbreak of the parasite Cryptosporidium around Lake Storsjön. This is stated by the municipality's VA manager Kristina Kenning to P4 Jämtland.
The municipality's switchboard has been flooded due to the rumors about the spread of the parasite. The municipality rejects the rumors, which are not only false but also potentially harmful.
When Cryptosporidium spread in the drinking water in Östersund in 2010, around 30,000 people became stomach-sick, and 65 were hospitalized.
