At least 16 people have been killed and another 20 kidnapped in northeastern Congo-Kinshasa as a result of a series of attacks carried out by a group with ties to the Islamic State, according to a representative of a local non-governmental organization.
The attacks, which took place between Wednesday and Friday, targeted farmers and other civilians.
The eastern parts of Congo-Kinshasa have long been plagued by more than 120 armed groups, which, among other things, are fighting for control over mines.
