Yesterday's broad declines on Asia's stock exchanges are followed by a smaller recovery for several of the leading stock indexes after a few hours of Thursday's trading.
In Japan, however, it's a minus for the Nikkei 225 index, down 0.4 percent, while the broader Topix is up 0.4.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index shows a small increase, 0.1 percent, and for South Korea's Kospi index, a rise of 0.5 percent is noted.
In Shanghai and Shenzhen, there is a plus of 0.1 percent for the composite index in Shanghai and up 0.6 percent in Shenzhen.
