There were mixed tones on Asia's leading stock exchanges on Monday. Optimism over an expected interest rate cut in the USA was offset by concerns over the Chinese economy, after disappointing figures were released.
In Japan, the Topix index fluctuated around zero after a couple of hours of trading, while the key Nikkei 225 was up nearly 2 percent.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index was down 1.8 percent. Shanghai's and Shenzhen's composite indices were both down 0.7 and 2 percent, respectively.
