It was both up and down on Asia's leading stock exchanges after a few hours of trading on Wednesday.
In Japan, it looked cautiously positive. The important Nikkei 225 had risen by 0.1 percent, while the Topix index had climbed by 0.5 percent.
It looked darker on Shanghai's and Shenzhen's composite index, minus 0.5 percent and minus 0.7 percent, respectively.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index hovered around zero.
