Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is dismissing his Minister for Human Rights, following allegations that he sexually harassed several women.
The Minister in question, 48-year-old Silvio Almeida, dismisses the whole thing as lies intended to tarnish his reputation. But the President's office believes that Almeida's position has become "untenable".
"The President believes that the possibility of the Minister staying on is untenable given the nature of the allegations", it says in a statement.
Brazil's Me too organization has received testimony from several women against Almeida, including from his ministerial colleague Anielle Franco, reports Brazilian media.
The allegations will now be investigated by the police.
