Miami overturned a 0–2 halftime deficit to win 4–2 in the Florida derby.
After Mateo Silvetti reduced the deficit early in the second half, superstar Messi stepped into action. In the 57th minute the Argentine scored the 2-2 goal, and in the 85th minute the 38-year-old assisted Telasco Segovia, who had a chance to make it 3-2 for the home team. In the 90th minute Messi then made it 4-2 with a free kick.
Miami won the MLS title last season but started this season with a 0-3 loss to Los Angeles FC.
