The tech-driven surge on Wall Street was reflected in large gains for several leading stock indexes in Asia after a few hours of Thursday's trading.
In Japan, the Nikkei 225 index was up 2.6 percent and Topix up 1.8 percent.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index stood at plus 0.9 percent and in South Korea, the Kospi index was up 1.6 percent.
In China, the composite indexes in Shanghai and Shenzhen were mildly up: 0.2 and 0.1 percent, respectively.
