At least 49 people have died and several have been injured in a fire in Kuwait, according to Kuwaiti authorities and media.
The fire has ravaged a seven-storey residential building in the Mangaf customs area. The cause is not yet known.
Kuwait's interior minister has visited the site and announced that the building's owner will be arrested. The authorities will also investigate the issue of overcrowding in residential buildings that house many migrant workers, according to the minister.
The building that caught fire was reportedly home to around 160 people, according to Kuwaiti media reports. Many are said to be Indians.
According to previous estimates, around two-thirds of Kuwait's population consists of migrants who have come to work and have been deemed a vulnerable group with limited rights over time.
Kuwait has 4.2 million inhabitants and is one of the world's most oil-rich countries.
