A Spanish court has sentenced a 76-year-old man to 18 years in prison. The man was found guilty of sending letter bombs to, among others, Spain's prime minister and the Ukrainian and US embassies.
The man opposed Western countries' support to Ukraine after Russia's attack in 2022. He has been found guilty of terrorism and of manufacturing letter bombs that he sent to six different addresses, the court announces.
A guard was injured when a package, addressed to the Ukrainian ambassador, exploded in Madrid. After the incident, security measures were tightened both in Spain and at Ukrainian diplomatic missions around the world.
