A man has been arrested, suspected of starting a new wildfire in the West Hills area of Los Angeles. The fire broke out on Thursday afternoon local time and then spread over an area of over 320 hectares.
The arrest came after local residents held the man, reports The Telegraph. They noticed the man on Thursday afternoon and then called the police.
About 20 to 30 minutes later, a suspect was taken into custody by residents in the Woodland Hills area. It is being investigated as a crime, says a spokesperson for the LA police.
Investigations are also underway into how several other fires, including the fire in the Pacific Palisades area, started.
