The police were alerted at 16.45 on Sunday that a person who was fishing with the help of a magnet had retrieved a suspicious object from the Höje stream.
The person took the object to a parking lot at a gas station in southern Lund.
The national bomb squad was called in. After examining it, the bomb squad decided to carry out a controlled detonation of the object, which was suspected to be a hand grenade.
When they subsequently examined the remains, they could establish that it was not a hand grenade but a harmless object, says the police's press spokesperson Evelina Olsson.
In connection with the object being detonated, traffic on the adjacent E22 was stopped.
Three weeks ago, another suspicious dangerous object was fished out of the Höje stream. It was deemed live and the national bomb squad detonated it, writes Sydsvenskan.
