Lund University has received the largest donation since the university was founded in 1666, 420 million kronor, which will go to cancer research.
The donation comes from Mrs. Berta Kamprad's foundation, which was established by IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad in the 1950s when his mother Berta was affected by cancer.
The money will go to research conducted in collaboration with research centers in Switzerland.
"This is a welcome message for many cancer researchers at Lund University and a testament to the fact that they arouse great interest beyond the country's borders", says University Rector Erik Renström in a press release.
