On several occasions, very long queues formed when trucks encountered problems on slippery roads.
Late in the afternoon, a truck got stuck on a slope on E22 in a southerly direction southwest of Kristianstad. Other trucks and a large number of passenger cars were left standing behind it. The road section was closed.
The road will be closed for most of the day. We are working on towing a heavy-duty tow truck, says Bengt Olsson, press chief at the Swedish Transport Administration.
Directed traffic
In the evening, the police announced that all passenger cars, except for one that needs to be towed, have now been able to leave the scene.
The police have directed traffic so that the cars have been able to drive to Kristianstad. Now, there are only trucks left that will either be able to drive on their own or need to be towed, says Filip Annas, police press spokesperson.
On E6 in a northerly direction near Landskrona, several trucks are standing still, which has a significant impact on traffic.
Skånetrafiken advises against taking public transportation by bus due to the prevailing weather conditions. A number of bus lines, including Malmö–Kristianstad and Hörby–Lund, have been cancelled. Traffic is expected to resume at 4 am on Saturday morning.
Even urban bus traffic in Lund and Kristianstad has been cancelled this evening.
Several accidents
During the afternoon and evening, a number of accidents have occurred around Skåne, but there are no reports of any serious injuries.
We recommend that people keep their distance and perhaps avoid unnecessary travel if they don't need to, says Filip Annas.
