Gabriel Landeskog has not played ice hockey since he helped secure the Stanley Cup title for Colorado in 2022. A severe knee injury, which required several operations, has put a stop to his playing for the past two seasons.
But a comeback for the Avalanche captain may be on the way.
It will happen when he is ready. It has been the same status for a while and I know he is happy about the progress he has made, just like we are. But we do not want to set a date for it (the comeback), says coach Jared Bednar, according to AP.
Landeskog said about a month ago that he hoped to be able to participate in the home premiere against Utah on October 5, but did not want to promise anything.
It's not about "if" anymore, but about when. I haven't come this far just to mess it up, so I'm just trying to be patient all the way and check off all the boxes, he said to Denver Post.
You will see me this year. I don't know if it will be game one, ten or twenty.
