Jussi Adler-Olsen was hospitalized at the beginning of February last year, where the cancer was discovered. He was later transferred to Rigshospitalet to a special department for bone marrow cancer, where he had to stay for almost half a year.

I'm doing well, considering the circumstances. But I'm going to die from this disease. It's incurable – at least for now, he says in an interview with Politiken and adds that he still receives chemotherapy and takes morphine.

Last year, Jussi Adler-Olsen cancelled all his engagements, including a book tour in Germany. At the time, it was reported that he had serious back problems.

Jussi Adler-Olsen is best known for the crime novel series "Department Q" which has sold 27 million copies worldwide.

The eleventh book in the series will be released in March and is written by authors Line Holm and Stine Bolther in collaboration with Jussi Adler-Olsen. According to Politiken, the two will take over the book series going forward.

Jussi Adler-Olsen has previously been ill with cancer and has been diagnosed with both colon cancer and prostate cancer.
