Besides the fatalities, at least seven people were injured, according to the Health Department in Beirut.
Lebanon's President Michel Aoun condemns the attack, which he believes is a warning that "reveals Israel's intentions" in Lebanon.
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam calls the attack a clear breach of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, as well as a breach of the UN resolution that formed the basis for both the 2006 war and the ceasefire signed in November.
Without Warning
According to Israel, Hassan Bdair, a member of both Hezbollah and the Iranian Revolutionary Guard's Quds Force, was killed in the attack. He is said to have planned an imminent attack on Israeli civilians, writes The Times of Israel.
"The attack targeted a Hezbollah terrorist who recently gave orders to Hamas members and assisted them in planning a significant terrorist attack on Israeli civilians", claimed the Israeli military in a post on Telegram shortly after the attack.
The attack occurred without warning, just days after Israel attacked Beirut for the first time since the ceasefire between Israeli forces and the terrorist-classified Hezbollah came into effect.
Calls for "Measures"
Photos show a multi-family house with extensive damage, which is said to have been the target of the attack.
Ibrahim Musawi, spokesperson for the Iran-backed Shia militia Hezbollah, urges Lebanese authorities to take measures to "ensure the Lebanese people's security" after the attack.
On Saturday, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem called on Israel to stop its "unacceptable" attacks.
