Footage from the AFP news agency's TV channel shows how the blackened and partially charred interior of the al-Nasr mosque is being inspected. The mosque is an important landmark in the city of Nablus on the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
According to local religious leaders, a total of six mosques on the West Bank were targeted by Israeli attacks on Friday, the first day of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan.
Israel, which has been conducting a several-week-long military operation in northern West Bank, has not commented on the matter. Tens of thousands of people have been displaced during the offensive.
The Palestinian Department of Donations and Religious Affairs condemns the mosque attacks, which they claim are part of an Israeli "systematic plan" to desecrate holy sites. The Nablus municipality also accuses Israel of the attacks and condemns what they describe as "the burning of the al-Nasr mosque, which is considered a historic mosque and an important landmark in the Old City".
