Six people were killed, including a police officer, and up to 28 people were injured in a shooting at a Shia Muslim mosque in Oman's capital Muscat, according to local police on Tuesday.
Three of the shooters are believed to be perpetrators, according to the police.
Terror group IS has claimed responsibility for the attack, according to a statement on the organization's channels.
The police gave no details about the motive or who might be behind the shooting.
"All necessary security measures and procedures have been taken to handle the situation and the authorities continue to gather evidence", writes the royal police in Oman on X.
