The investigation against Mbappé dropped

The evidence was not sufficient. Therefore, prosecutor Marina Chirakova chose to discontinue the investigation into the alleged rape in which the French football star Kylian Mbappé was involved.

"There has during the investigation been a person reasonably suspected of rape and two cases of sexual harassment, but my assessment is that the evidence is not sufficient to proceed and the investigation is therefore closed", says prosecutor Marina Chirakova in a press release.

"The person in question has not been notified of suspicion of crime."

"Many articles"

Real Madrid striker missed France's national team gathering in October due to an injury and instead traveled to Sweden. There, he became involved in a rape investigation.

The Swedish Prosecution Authority confirmed that there was a report of a rape, but not that the report concerned the Frenchman.

Mbappé's trip to Stockholm was widely discussed in French media and sports pages were topped by Swedish media reports that the star was involved in a rape investigation.

There have been very many articles and attention worldwide, I would say, says Chirakova to TT.

To Expressen and Aftonbladet, the prosecutor says that no interrogations have been held.

As a conclusion, I can say that no interrogations have been held since we cannot hold interrogations without notifying suspicion.

Did not want to participate

Aftonbladet also writes that the woman did not want to participate in the investigation. In the decision submitted to the district court, the prosecutor writes that "the plaintiff no longer wishes to participate in the investigation", according to the newspaper.

Kylian Mbappé said last week that he had not heard anything from Swedish authorities and that he had only read what everyone else could read in the media.

I am not worried, it is just hard to understand. But it has not weighed me down since I have not been worried, he said in an interview with French Canal Plus.
