"All seedlings come from a German wholesaler. But we know that's not the source. This wholesaler is a reseller who in turn has bought seedlings from over 500 suppliers," says Nils Carlsson, head of the art and nature unit at the County Administrative Board of Skåne, in a press release.

No flatworms have been found at the wholesaler, according to the County Administrative Board. Now they are working together with the German supplier to find out which or which subcontractors the affected seedlings come from.

About a week ago, the invasive flatworm was also discovered in a planting in central Malmö. It was then described by the County Administrative Board as "potentially very harmful".

The name Obama nungara comes from the Brazilian indigenous language Tupi and has nothing to do with former US President Barack Obama.
