The patients, accompanied by over 100 relatives, left the European Hospital on Tuesday morning and made their way out of Gaza via the Kerem Shalom crossing to Israel.
Among the patients is ten-year-old Abdullah Abu Yousef, who suffers from kidney failure. His sister is accompanying him instead of their mother, as the Israeli authorities have denied her application.
He needs dialysis three to four days a week, says the mother.
According to health authorities, thousands of Gaza residents need medical care abroad. Since the outbreak of war in October last year, the healthcare system in Gaza has been overwhelmed and only partially functional.
