A prisoner who on Friday took several employees hostage at a prison in Arles in southern France has been arrested by the police.

This is written by Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin on X.

"No one was injured", he writes further.

Four healthcare employees and a prison guard were held hostage for about five hours before the inmate gave up.
