The company, a leading actor in the niche that in the USA is called "breastaurants", is considering applying for bankruptcy to be able to restructure the restaurant chain and manage its debts, according to unnamed sources for Bloomberg.

According to the sources, the process may begin within the next two months.

Hooters has for some time struggled with increasing debts and fewer visitors to its restaurants.

The reports of Hooters' bankruptcy have led to reactions on social media in the USA from, among others, top athletes who have appreciated the restaurant's concept, reports Fox Business. For example, NBA player Devin Booker writes on X: "Plz don’t go @Hooters".

The name Hooters has a double meaning in the USA. On the one hand, it is a slang term for women's breasts, and on the other hand, it is an allusion to the sound made by the owl in the company's logo.
