According to the police, everything indicates that Rickard Andersson acted alone when he attacked Campus Risbergska in Örebro at lunchtime on Tuesday, February 4. He killed ten people and injured at least six others before shooting himself.

He was previously unconvicted and unknown to the police before the massacre, but is described by the police as a "motivated perpetrator with a deadly weapon".

He had a license for four weapons. Three of them were found on him (at the school), said police investigation leader Anna Bergkvist.

He passed a hunting exam in 2011. According to information provided to TV4, Rickard Andersson is believed to have used both a semi-automatic rifle and a shotgun during the attack. A source tells the channel that the semi-automatic rifle was not of the notorious AR-15 type.

Lived in Örebro

The 35-year-old grew up in Örebro. He had lived in the same apartment in central parts of the city since 2011. He was unmarried and had no children. In 2017, he changed his first and last names to Rickard Andersson.

In 2014, he earned 98,605 kronor. Since then, he had no taxable income at all.

In several media outlets, he is described as a loner with limited contact with other people. An old classmate from high school who spoke to TT describes him as "awkward and different".

During elementary school, they were in parallel classes, and there the classmate describes him as a relatively normal student with a few friends. When they started in the same class in seventh grade, something happened. Rickard Andersson, who then had a different name, began to behave increasingly deviantly, according to the classmate.

It was very strange. He had a long period where he didn't speak and held his mouth with one hand. He didn't say a word, says the classmate who wants to remain anonymous.

A Loner

The classmate still lives in Örebro and occasionally meets other classmates who greet him.

But I've never seen him since we graduated from ninth grade. I don't think he was very social.

Another former classmate who spoke to TT describes the 35-year-old in a similar way – as somewhat of a loner.

I share the image presented in the media of him, he says.

He also had difficulties in school and lacked high school qualifications after graduating from high school with incomplete grades. He later attended high school for a time, according to DN and TV4, in a special class for students with autism, but also without achieving full qualifications.
