According to the police, everything indicates that the suspected perpetrator acted alone when he attacked Campus Risbergska on Tuesday, killing at least ten people and injuring at least six more before taking his own life.
The man was not previously known to the police and is not linked to any criminal gang. Nevertheless, he is described as a "motivated perpetrator with a deadly weapon".
The police believe they know who the suspected perpetrator is, but will not confirm it at present.
What can be said, however, is that we have a perpetrator who was found in the school. He had a license for four weapons. Three of them were found on him, says investigation leader Anna Bergqvist at a press conference on Thursday.
No friends
Public records show that the 35-year-old, who according to several media outlets is suspected of being the shooter, has lived in his apartment in central Örebro since 2011. He is unmarried and has no children. In 2017, he changed both his first and last names.
In 2014, the man earned 98,605 kronor. Since then, he has had no taxable income. In 2017, he had a capital surplus of approximately 122,000 kronor, according to the Tax Agency's records.
He grew up in Örebro and is described in several media outlets as a loner with limited contact with other people.
Former classmates tell Aftonbladet that the man socialized in a group of friends during most of elementary school – but something happened during high school.
He became more and more withdrawn and eventually said nothing. You didn't know what he thought or felt and you didn't know what it was about, says a classmate to the newspaper.
"Never seen him"
The man is said to have started covering his face with a hood and his mouth with his sleeve.
He also had difficulties in school and lacked a high school diploma after completing elementary school with incomplete grades. He later attended high school for a period, but also without achieving full grades.
Several neighbors tell Dagens Nyheter that they have never met him.
I have never seen or heard anything about the man, at all, says one of the residents in the building to the newspaper.
