All bishops in the Church of Sweden have urged their congregations to ring the church bells for those affected in Gaza and for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.
As everyone can see, the situation is dreadful in Gaza with the excessive violence, with the starvation, with the hostages and the desperation that exists in Gaza, says Martin Modéus.
The bell-ringing is a way to draw attention to and focus on and also remind those who do not have the opportunity to be inside the church.
In connection with the extended bell-ringing, a prayer is held for the injured, captured, hungry and dead in Gaza.
Churches in Norway, Finland, Iceland and the Palestinian areas will also ring their bells.
The Church of Sweden's worship service usually begins at 11 o'clock on Sundays.
But as far as I know, one prays for Gaza day in and day out in all its complexity and pain, says the archbishop.
