It was Lars-Christer Olsson who almost two years ago lost the battle against Fredrik Reinfeldt for the chairmanship in the Swedish Football Association. Now Simon Åström is proposed as the new chairman at the annual meeting on March 22 instead of a re-election of Reinfeldt.
I think it's a good proposal from the electoral committee. I don't think Fredrik Reinfeldt's leadership has worked in Swedish football, says Olsson, former UEFA CEO (European Football Association) and former chairman of Swedish Elite Football (Sef).
Is it primarily the leadership or is it also the decisions and choices made during Reinfeldt's years that you are critical of?
It's hard to comment on the choices because it's been very unclear what choices have been made, except that they have caused problems at the association's office, which many have testified to. And Sweden as a football nation has lost reputation both domestically and internationally. It's been a totally unproductive parenthesis, says Lars-Christer Olsson.
