In May, Romain Derieux won the Elitloppet with the horse Go On Boy.
Now the Frenchman is being suspended for doping offenses, reports Travronden. This since his horse Idéal de Jean tested positive for the prohibited cortisone preparation dexamethasone after a race in France in February.
According to Paris Turf, the French star claims that a farrier before the race was prescribed an eye ointment containing dexamethasone. However, the explanation was not accepted since it came more than two months after follow-up investigations were conducted at the training facility.
Therefore, Derieux is now being suspended for three months and must pay 7,500 euros, just over 85,000 Swedish kronor, in fines. Idéal de Jean will also be stripped of his victory in the Prix d'Helsinki from February.
