The club fell out of the Premier League in 2018 and has since struggled to return to the English top football. Now Swansea gets new support in the hunt for a comeback in the highest division, with the help of a global superstar.
On Thursday evening, Swansea confirmed that Snoop Dogg has bought into the club. In connection with the news, a new wall painting of the rapper was also unveiled, located by one of the stands at the club's home arena.
"My love for football is well-known, but it feels special for me that I now become a club owner in Swansea City", says Snoop Dogg and continues:
"The club's and area's history really touched me. This is a proud working-class city and club. An underdog that bites back, just like me. I am proud to be a part of Swansea City. I will do everything I can to help the club."
Even the club's CEO Tom Gorringe is enthusiastic about the new ownership addition.
"Dogg is passionate about this project and about helping us to continue raising the club's profile to as wide an audience as possible", says Gorringe.
Swansea finished in eleventh place in the Championship last season.
