A large area in Hjällbo-Eriksbo in Gothenburg was cordoned off at 23:00 on Sunday night after a suspected hazardous object was found.
However, by 03:00, the police could confirm that it was a harmless object.
We now know that the suspected hazardous object is not hazardous, but the investigation continues, so we cannot say what it is at present, says Martin Hallberg, duty officer at the police.
The object was found outdoors in the middle of a residential area, and in addition to large cordons, several nearby apartments were also evacuated.
We will retain the crime classification of attempted general destruction in the investigation, says Hallberg.
All those evacuated were able to return to their apartments on Sunday night and the cordons were lifted.
