At least 20 people have been killed in an operation by Hamas, labeled as terrorists, to stop the looting of aid convoys.
The deadly raid against looters took place after a large number of UN trucks with emergency aid were emptied of their contents in Gaza.
The Interior Ministry of Gaza, controlled by Hamas, announced on Monday that the Islamic movement's security forces had stopped criminal gangs from looting aid trucks.
"More than 20 members of gangs involved in stealing trucks were killed in a security operation carried out by security forces in cooperation with local committees," the Interior Ministry said in a statement late on Monday.
The UN agency Unrwa in Gaza told the Reuters news agency that 109 trucks in an aid convoy were looted of their contents in Gaza, 98 of the trucks were lost.
