The Netherlands has granted export licenses for 24 F-16 fighter jets and seven engines, reports public service company NOS. The delivery date is unknown, but it will happen "soon".
The announcement was one of the last made by the Dutch transitional government, with Kajsa Ollongren as Defense Minister, before the new government takes over.
Ollongren writes, in a letter to parliament, that the licenses were granted a few weeks ago. In the letter, it is stated that the delivery of the F-16s, so eagerly awaited by Ukraine, which can strengthen resistance against Russia, will happen soon. The outgoing Foreign Minister Bruins Slot said in May that the planes can be used to strike targets in Russia, if it is in self-defense.
