His film "Anora" received the Golden Palm, the finest prize at the Cannes Festival in May. Now it is clear that Sean Baker is coming to the Stockholm Film Festival.
The American director will receive the Stockholm Visionary Award in connection with his film being shown at the festival.
"Anora" is the opening film at the Stockholm Film Festival, which begins on November 6. The gangster comedy is about a prostitute who gets to know the son of a wealthy Russian oligarch, who does not appreciate their relationship.
Since the festival is celebrating 35 years this year, the Stockholm Visionary Award will be given to two different filmmakers.
It was previously known that the British director Steve McQueen will also receive the award and he will also be a guest at the festival with his World War II drama "Blitz".
