Anders Furbeck, who has been nominated by nine districts in Götaland, succeeds Karin Mattsson and becomes the new chairman of the Swedish Ski Association.
With the vote count of 22-20, against the election committee's candidate Jonas Bauer, Furbeck was elected during Sunday's annual meeting.
The Ski Association has recently struggled with internal conflicts and economic problems. Both police reports and a complaint to the sports' own court, the National Sports Confederation, have shaken the association.
"Together, we have a strong association with great potential, but of course, we have challenges to address. But we have a stable foundation that we are proud of and will build on – namely the incredibly strong interest in our sports among the Swedish people", says Anders Furbeck in a press release.
The 66-year-old Furbeck has been a member of the Swedish Ski Association's board for four years and is the chairman of the Norrbotten Ski Association.
