French universities are now entering the political fray and expressing their concern over the far-right party National Rally's (RN) successes in the parliamentary elections in France.
In a joint statement, the organizations gathering the country's universities, including elite schools such as Sciences Po and Sorbonne, write that "the threat (from RN) is immediate, tangible, and unprecedented" and "must be met with seriousness and determination".
"Since National Rally's policy is based on principles of exclusion, but also on fear and xenophobia, the party is jeopardizing our higher education and the opportunity for education for all young people, regardless of background, origin, and social context", they write.
