Pinturault landed in the safety net after a hazardous aerial.
The three-time World Championship gold medalist got up directly, but had problems supporting himself on one leg. He received help from medical personnel and was then taken away by helicopter to the hospital while the competition was temporarily stopped.
According to AP, it's about an injury to his right knee – which puts his start in the World Championship in Saalbach in February at risk.
Five start numbers later, the next Frenchman crashed – in the same turn. Florian Loriot, after being treated on the slope, was also transported by helicopter to the hospital.
The extent of Loriot's injuries is unknown.
