The famous wooden bench from the film "Forrest Gump" survived the forest fires in California. Only a few planks in the seat were scorched by the flames. But the house, whose garden the bench stood in, burned down.

The bench is part of the scene where Forrest Gump sits and shares life wisdom with strangers.

Besides a few charred planks on the bench, the concrete supports it rests on have also been somewhat damaged. Otherwise, it is intact, unlike everything else that was around.

After the filming of "Forrest Gump" in 1994, the bench was taken home by Rick Carter, a production designer on the film team, who lives in Pacific Palisades.

Just like Forrest existed in a kind of protected bubble, this bench did the same, says Rick Carter, who was nominated for an Oscar for his contribution to "Forrest Gump", to Los Angeles Times.
