Swedish ice hockey is in mourning.
The former national team captain of the women's national team, Christian Yngve, has passed away after a period of illness, writes the Swedish Ice Hockey Association on its website.
Christian Yngve was involved from the start of the women's national team's history and a major reason for their successes. He was involved both as assistant and national team captain between 1989 and 2002, the last year the women's national team surprisingly took Olympic Games bronze in Salt Lake City.
At club level, Christian Yngve worked for Västerhaninge and AIK.
Christian Yngve was 61 years old.
