Liam Payne fell to his death from the balcony of Hotel Casa Sur in Buenos Aires on October 16. The Argentine police and prosecutor are now focusing on individuals who were present at the location where the One Direction star died.
The hotel manager and an employee are suspected of manslaughter. A person described as a close friend of Liam Payne has also been suspected of the same crime.
Two more hotel employees are suspected of selling drugs to the artist.
All five have been charged with the crimes, according to AFP.
Two people have been arrested, but it is unclear, according to BBC, which of the suspects they are. A new court hearing will be held in the coming days.
The police found drugs in Liam Payne's hotel room after his death, and a forensic examination showed that he had traces of alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants in his body.
The prosecutor suspects that Liam Payne may have been so intoxicated that he was not contactable or knew what he was doing at the time of his death.
Liam Payne was one of the members of One Direction, one of the biggest pop groups of the 2010s. The group split up in 2016.
