Tough negotiations are expected when the EU countries' fisheries ministers decide on quotas in, among other places, the North Sea, the Atlantic, and the Mediterranean.

Rural Affairs Minister Peter Kullgren (KD) is counting on an agreement. At the same time, he is thoroughly irritated by non-EU country Norway's stance on the areas where fishing takes place across borders.

Unfortunately, it seems that the Norwegian side is more interested in increasing their own quotas than in achieving sustainable long-term management. It's starting to get a bit tiresome, actually, says Kullgren on his way to Monday's meeting in Brussels.

The dissatisfaction with the Norwegian stance led to a joint call from several EU countries last summer for tougher action in the negotiations.
