Flights were cancelled and a large number of firefighters were deployed after an oil depot was set on fire in a Ukrainian drone attack in Russian Sochi. At the same time, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj states that a prisoner exchange is underway.

In the resort town by the Black Sea in western Russia, an oil depot caught fire, reports Governor Veniamin Kondratjev. Over 120 firefighters worked to combat the fire, which started during the night to Sunday.

According to the Russian state news agency Ria, a tank with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters was on fire.

As a result of the fire, several flights were cancelled at the city's airport, which is in high season now when many Russians want to sunbathe and swim at Sochi's beaches. However, air traffic was able to resume during the early Sunday morning.

The city's mayor, Andrej Prosjunin, said later that no one was injured and that the fire was extinguished after several hours.

Several injured

The Russian Ministry of Defense reports on Telegram that 93 Ukrainian drones were shot down in the area during the night.

In the Russian city of Voronezj, four people have been injured, including a woman who was hit in the leg by debris from a downed drone, according to Governor Aleksandr Gusev. He reports that about a dozen Ukrainian drones were shot down in the Russian region.

Three people have been taken to hospital after a Russian rocket attack on a residential area in the city of Mykolajiv in southern Ukraine late on Saturday evening. Several residential buildings were damaged and rescue services have been working to extinguish fires. Additional residents have received treatment on the spot, according to Governor Vitalij Kim.

Reports of prisoner exchange

The Ukrainian air force reported on Sunday that Russia launched 76 drones and seven rockets against Ukraine. 60 drones and one rocket were shot down, but the others hit targets in eight locations.

Volodymyr Zelenskyj reported on X on Sunday that the two countries, during their latest round of negotiations in Istanbul, agreed on an exchange of 1,200 prisoners.

The names on the lists are being worked out, according to the president.

No official Russian reaction to the reports has yet been received.
