The number of cinema visits decreased by 350,000 people during the first half of 2024, compared to the same period last year, reports Sveriges Radio.

According to the Swedish Cinema Owners' Association, the decline in audience numbers is due to the Hollywood strike, which has resulted in fewer major American films being released. On the other hand, Swedish films helped attract audiences to cinemas, primarily the three films "The Last Journey", "Håkan Bråkan 2" and "Hammarskjöld".
