Felix Claar to miss several months of the season

The Swedish handball star Felix Claar injured his foot during the Olympic Games in Paris. Now his club Magdeburg announces that it is a serious injury. We must assume that it will take several months, says Magdeburg's coach Bennet Wiegert in a press release.

The 27-year-old was troubled by an Achilles tendon problem during the Olympic Games. He injured himself in the group stage match against Slovenia but came back after missing two matches.

Now his club Magdeburg announces that the injury was worse than feared. In a press release, they only mention that it concerns a foot injury.

Due to Claar's expected longer absence, the club has recruited a replacement in the form of the Swiss Manuel Zehnder.

Felix Claar was named Europe's best midfielder last summer, and it is unclear whether the injury can keep him out until the World Championship in January.
